August has rolled in, along with the heat. It has been a great summer, mild weather compared to the previous summers. No complaints here about the 100* days.
Cattle are still grazing on the cover crops we planted in spring. Pigs have found a great spot to wallow in during these hot days. And laying hens are picking up production after a significant decline for a week or so. Feels like Christmas when we come back from the field with baskets full of eggs.
Thanksgiving turkey poults are in the brooders. It seems too early to be thinking about Thanksgiving, but we start turkeys at the end of July to be ready just in time for Thanksgiving- ready or not.
Keep an eye out for Thanksgiving Pre-Orders that will go live in the next few weeks. We plan to offer 2 options this year to make them a little more accessible to families unable to drive out to the farm.
Fall farm tour looks like it will be Saturday October 17th. We hope you will be able to make it out to the farm. We look forward to meeting everyone and the great conversation.
Cattle are up in the front pasture near the store this Saturday. You will be able to get a great glimpse of them when you come visit. Be aware that the electric wire is hot for any brave soul that wants to touch it.

Time to pull out your slow cooker, it’s back to school.

Life is once again busy now that school is in session. Make use of your slow cooker this season to simplify things. Choose roasts & stew meats that are versatile enough for multiple meals.
We are truly blessed with your support,
Zachary Platt & Family
